MLB The Show 26 has completely overhauled Franchise Mode trading. The old “swap and go” style is gone, replaced with a dynamic Trade Hub where timing, competition, and strategy matter more than ever. Here’s how to get the edge and dominate the market like a pro.

1. Master the Trade Hub and Pending Offers

Trades aren’t instant anymore. The AI now evaluates offers over several in-game days, which means patience and planning are key.

The 4-Slot Strategy: You get four active trade slots. Never leave them empty. Need a Closer? Send offers to four different teams at once. This ensures you have backup in case another GM snags your primary target.

Hijacking Rumors: Keep an eye on the Rumor Board. If two AI teams show “High Interest” in a player you want, jump in with a slightly better offer. The AI delay can let you steal deals before they finalize.

2. Capitalize on Team Archetypes

Each team has a “mood” that affects trades: Contender, Seller, or Rebuilder. Knowing this gives you leverage.

Targeting Salary Dumps: Small-market “Seller” teams are desperate to shed payroll. Use this to acquire high-OVR stars for mid-tier prospects—if you can handle their contract.

Selling Rental Vets: If you’re out of playoff contention, trade players in the final year of their contracts by June. Contenders will overpay in prospects to strengthen their playoff push.

3. Exploit Market Sentiment & Performance

A player’s value now shifts with streaks, not just OVR or potential.

Sell High: A 78 OVR bench player hitting .350 over 20 games can fetch a top prospect. Trade during this “hype window.”

Scout the Fog of War: Some rumors are misleading. Use scouts to check a player’s real performance stats before making a big trade. Avoid overpaying for temporary hot streaks.

4. Position Flexibility Padding

Utility players with multiple positions are surprisingly powerful trade tools.

Sweeteners: Adding a 2B/SS/CF utility player to a nearly-complete trade can push the AI’s “Value Meter” over the edge. Think of them as depth insurance that convinces the AI to accept.

5. Tactical Use of the Untouchables List

Labeling top prospects as “Untouchable” is more than a protective measure—it’s a negotiation tool.

Force Premium Offers: The AI knows these players are off-limits, which can lead to god-tier offers from desperate Contenders who want to make a blockbuster trade.
